March 30th a DMP Hike from Shankill to Carrickgollogan - public transport friendly

Join our DMP Volunteer Ranger guided hike on Sunday, the 30th of March. The route will follow along the eastern section of the Dublin Mountains Way (DMW), taking in Rathmichael Wood, Carrickgollogan summit and the Lead Mine’s chimney. We will then return to Shankill via the DMW passing by a Fassaroe Cross. The route surfaces include, footpaths, county road, gravel trails and forest floor. On a clear day the views along the route are breathtaking.
Date: Sunday, 30th of March 2025 at 10:30.
Duration: 3 to 4 hours, approximately.
Distance: 12km approximately, 290m of climb.
Degree of difficulty: Moderate.
Bring: Sturdy waterproof footwear, rain gear, warm layers, water, and lunch.
Meeting point: Brady's Pub at 10:15.
Public Transport: DART and Dublin Bus. See link below to TFI’s Journey Planner.
Parking is available at Brady’s Pub for €3, or free if you dine or drink at the bar afterwards. Alternative parking available at the Dart Station.
No Dogs allowed on this hike.

What are our Volunteer Rangers doing in March?
The DMP Volunteer Rangers are continuing their training. They are undertaking training in Wilderness First Aid, the Lowland Leader Qualification, Manual Handling, orienteering and map reading.
Our Volunteer Rangers will be supporting Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue's Walk the Line fundraiser on March 22nd.
On March 29th the Volunteer Rangers will be out and about on a Meet & Greet day chatting to the public, doing dog patrols in dog on lead areas and carrying out frog surveys. If you see them, do stop and say hello.
